Lemon 3-zone Cymbal not choking

Postby YarekOvich » Mon Jun 30, 2025 3:32 pm

Hi! I had recently purchased a Lemon 3-zone ride and tried to hook it up to my MegaDrum. I spent two days trying to set it up.

The best thing so far is that all three zones work (bow, bell, edge), but there is no choke.

Tried selecting “Dual or 3-way Yamaha”, and the choke worked there, but Bell was missing from the cymbal zones.

Has anyone experienced with these cymbals and settings for them?

Is it piezo/switch/switch Roland type cymbal?

Seems like so - it has only one piezo.

Does it have 2 stereo outputs?
Do you have a multimeter?
Can you measure resistance/continuity between sleeve and ring on both outputs when you press/release edge and bell switches?

I was finally able to measure everything I had to. Yes, there are two stereo outputs on the cymbal. The resistance between the ring and the sleeve on the first one (when pushing the rim area) is 68-70 ohms, and on the second one (when pushing the dome) is 40 ohms. But the second one responds very poorly - I had to look for a point and press extremely hard. When playing, it requires a quite strong hit to activate it.

Then maybe it is mechanically faulty?

When I chose the "2-way or Yamaha", the tip, edge and choke worked. But there were no bell.

So apparently the edge switch is working properly but the bell switch is not.

And choking function affects the bell switch as well?

Choke sends Midi Aftertouch On for the last played note of all 3 zones.
