That's actually a pretty cool idea. Or I'll leave it as it is and it would look like flight cargo :)

Today the package arrived!

I think I need a better soldering tip and new solder wire. What measurements are well suited for soldering a MegaDrum board? I also need some flux I guess. The MegaDrum is much smaller than I thought...even though I knew the measurements I was surprised :)

And most important of all...I need to somehow convince my wife that this is the most important project I've ever done and that it might save the world ;)

You might also want to get some isopropyl alcohol while you're at it. You will probably need it to wash the remains of the flux off the board when you're done soldering.

Is flux a must or just making life easier? I found a flux pen called "Mini Fluxer" and it says "No clean" on it. Does that mean that I don't have to use any isopropyl alcohol after I've soldered?

Flux is not a must as long as you have flux core solder. You MUST have one or the other. It won't work without it. Flux cleans the dirt and impurities off of the parts and makes the solder flow. You will not get decent solder joints if you don't have one or the other.

Clean it regardless. You probably don't need to, but it is good practice to always clean your boards when you complete them.

Here's the tip of my soldering iron and the solder tin I'm planning to use (I need to clean the tip). The solder tin is 1mm thick and is called something like Electronic solder tin, so it should have a flux core...at least I hope so :? Will this combination make me happy or am I doomed to fail? :)

I don't know whether it will make you happy or not, but it should work.

I use 60Sn/40Pb 0.7mm 2.0% flux cored solder myself.

I don't believe that that is rosin core flux based solder, I used to use that in my electronics class and we would use flux paste on the pcb boards and then tin the circuits on the pcb with that type of solder. If it has a flux core it will be visible in the center of the solder.
