I'm interested in building the kit. What are the compatible drum sound libraries to program the unit once built, and how is it (are they) programmed into the module?

There are no programmable sounds with megadrum. You must use it with a vst on your computer (like Battery of BFD). It is not a standalone drum module.

megadrum is a midi controller. it will trigger any midi device that supports midi in. you may use it to control vst objects, but megadrum will control midi synthesizers, samplers, sound modules, etc. very well.
