Hi there,
just received my megadrum minimal Kit from Dmitri.
I sold everything together and plugged MD via the USB to my computer.
Windows recognizes MD and installs drivers. Everything ok. All Pushbuttons and Encoders are working fine.
I use mdfwupdate.exe to update the latest Firmware "megadrum1284_56_20110910".
I put MD as discribed into Update mode and start mdfwupdate.
I select "Megadrum USB MIDI" as input and output ports but then i receive the Message "This application has requested to terminate it in an unusual way" and Megadrum reboots and stays on the VU Meter indications.
If i select other ports nothing happens at all.
I tried it on 2 computers(Vista and Win7)

Also with Megadrum Manager i can not get them to communicate together.

Any ideas?

This is too little information to give an advice on.

I put Megadrum in to Update Mode than start mdfwupdate.exe over command prompt like this: mdfwupdate.exe megadrum1284_56_20110910.bin( both files in the same folder)

With Megadrum Manager i configure the midi ports. I used both the same for In and OUT Megadrum MIDI USB(is that right? As i use USB? I have no MIDI connectors connected)
I go to update Firmware put again Megadrum into Update Mode select the same file as above formthenfirmware and start the Update but after a few seconds it says that Megadrum does not respond.
I maybe have to organize another USB cable....
But windows does recognize Megadrum and installs drivers.

will post exactly what you requested:

Step 3:

- Megadrum powered up with left key pressed. Megadrum display shows:

FwSUpdater 16MHz
DOWN-ok.UP-clock

- I select with the UP switch 12Mhz as i have Atmega1248 with 12Mhz.
- I press the DOWN key and Megadrum display shows:

FwSUpdater 12MHz
StartUpdateOnPC

- I run the command line

- I start the command prompt and type:

mdfwupdate.exe megadrum1284_56_20110910.bin

Megadrum firmware update ultility opens to select the ports.

- I select:

Output Port #2: Megadrum USB MIDI

the computer shows in command window:

Openend MIDI Out port 2

- Than i select:

Output Port #1: Megadrum USB MIDI

when i press enter the computer show in the command window:

Opened MIDI In port2.
Firmware file is loaded
Firmware size is 48176 bytes
Transferring.. - 0% done.

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

A Window pops up that mdfwupdate is not working anymore.

Megadrum reboots and the display shows the VU meter.

Why do you think your Atmega is 12MHz? It is 20MHz.

It worked.

I was just confused cause on the crystal it is written 12.000...so...my fault, sorry.
After successful firmware update, the MD display shows:

Firmware ver.
20111009 16MHz(Why 16MHz now?)

I can also update the firmware over MDM, it works fine but MDM does always show ?????? for the
firmware version.
When i load settings from MD the LED comes on, so there is comunication....i suppose
but there are no changes in MDM. Same for sending to MD. No changes.

Did i missed again something?

When i hit my snare, MD VU shows the input.
MDM shows nothing in MIDI Log

Does it show 16MHz after power cycling? If it does, load the firmware from viewtopic.php?p=19002#p19002 and and tell me the number it shows on the first screen of the menu after power cycling and entering the menu.
